Ok bidders!! Are you ready for week 6?? I have decided to put a TWIST on this week as we have had some feedback with people wanting to see more DELICIOUS ITEMS!!! This means this week is all about FOOD!!! These delicious items will be fresh and made to order so we will need a few days after the auction closes to get working on them (with the exception of a few items – this will be noted) Are we ready???

Local Secondary School Girls Invited to DREAM IT.BE IT

(Brantford, ON) – Soroptimist International of Grand Erie is proud to announce the third annual “Dream It. Be It” conference for girls, as well as welcome Olympic gold medalist Becky Kellar to share her journey to gold. The Dream It. Be It goal is  “Through education and access to role models, girls will be empowered to pursue their career goals and reach their full potential “

Registration is open for this FREE event.

Dream It. Be It targets girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. The local club, Soroptimist International of Grand Erie, has been working with a steering committee of local girls to learn what tools, topics, and resources they are most interested in.

 

There will be a Speakers Panel with professional women from the traditional to non-traditional  vocations:   Electrician   – Crisis Worker   – Broadcaster   – Project Engineer    – Reporter  – Microbiologist  – Speech Pathologist    – Entrepreneur

Break-out sessions will cover topics including   1)  Discovering Your Dreams       2)  Exploring Careers

3)  Creating Achievable Goals       4)  Rising Above Obstacles    5)  Turning Failures into Success

6)  Balancing Your Stress        7)  Putting Dreams into Action.

Community partners sessions will include  1)Interview Skills & Resume Building   2) Mental Health           3) Social Media   4)Draw the Line  5) Budgeting & Financing        and some surprises

The workshops, speakers, and activities are all opportunities for young women to become inspired and motivated.

Who: Secondary school girls in Brant, Brantford, Norfolk and Six Nations of the Grand River

Where: Salvation Army Church – 33 Diana Ave Brantford

FREE TRANSPORTATION provided by Sharp Bus Lines with pick up and drop off at SCS, WDHS, G.R.E.A.T., PDHS, St. John’s, North Park, PJ, and BCI.

When: Saturday April 8th 2017 9:00am – 4:00pm

Born and raised in Hagersville, Ontario, Kellar (Duke) began her career as a hockey player at Brown University. She competed at the first four Olympic Winter Games in which women’s ice hockey was included, winning one silver and three gold medals. Kellar-Duke represented Canada in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

This is our 2017 Dream It *Be It Steering Committee at work planning a fabulous event for all secondary school girls.

Come and join us on Saturday, April 8 at the Salvation Army, 33 Diana Avenue, Brantford from 9 am to 4 pm. Free transportation from SCS, WDHS, G.R.E.A.T., PDHS, ST.JOHN’S, NORTH PARK, PAULINE JOHNSON AND BCI.   Lunch provided, door prizes, SWAG bags.
